Lovely.

Jason Mraz is by far the cutest. He and his thesis amuse me.

I'm mixing my lyrical references.

Anyway last night Lani and I saw Jason again! I may have only been to a handful of concerts, but I think it's safe to say he is one of the most creative, exciting live performers out there. I have a feeling every one of his concerts is a new experience. Just since August, at least half the set was completely fresh. He has a different arrangement for half his songs, all better than the studio versions; he can improvise better than any ten professional jazz musicians you can name. And make no mistake: he is the cutest.

Jason has an amazing philosophy on life. Let's go back to my place, but I do it protected. Be happy now, right now is all you have. Love is a verb, and emotion is a language. He sings from his soul, and he is capable of sending chills up my spine.

Lani and I stood and danced the whole time while everyone else sat and played with their cell phones. We tried to make out 'Take Five' in 'Right Kind of Phrase' - band geekdom is not wasted: at least the last two measures flipped into 5/4. Validation. :) We screamed every time he improvised and sang our hearts out when he stuck to the script. And we snobbishly cursed the posers who finally and only stood for 'The Remedy.'

The opening band, Dacona, was really good. They sounded like a cross between U2 and OLP, and the lead singer had a lot of personality. I hope they have some success; I'd like to hear more from them. We left after Jason played, not staying to hear Michelle Branch. I only know two or three of her songs, and while I theoretically appreciate any girl with a guitar who writes her own music, she's a bit too whiny and poppy for my tastes.

Add a round trip of singing and conversation, a mad rush for sustenance, and a post-concert Tim Hortons run, and you've got what I'd call a perfect Saturday night.

On the other hand, I've still accomplished nothing this weekend, and I've got two exams this week. I wish I could be troubled to care.

And don't it feel all right?
And don't it feel so nice?
Blah la la lovely.

ps - I haven't been on a dland hiatus all week. I've been working on fandom and my photo album. Ongoing projects, if that's of interest.
