Asexuality: not just for amoebas anymore.

EDIT: Full text of New Scientist article now available online!

I had no idea how big this was going to get. And I know this is only the beginning.

The 6-page New Scientist article is on the newsstands in the UK and will be here on Saturday. Every news outlet seems to be picking up on it and scrambling to cover it. A few samples:

CNN
The Guardian
Mail & Guardian, Zaire
This is London
The Scotsman

I'm too excited to keep formatting these — but there look to be dozens.

We've got 25 new members today so far (we probably average one or two a day). I can't keep up with the new posts. This is crazy and thrilling and I'm a part of it.

New Scientist estimates we proud asexuals are 1 in 100. We are not an anomaly. We are here: the last frontier of sexuality; how hip, how revolutionary — people who don't want sex, ever? and are happy, yes, proud about it? How enigmatic we are: why wouldn't y'all want a piece of us?

Haven't had a call or an email requesting an interview yet, but expect it. This is the most important thing I've ever done. People are going to hear about this and think we are either crazy or lameheads who can't get dates, and I'm a part of gaining credibility and visibility. There is so much potential in what I'm doing right now — we may help one out of every 100 people figure out what's been niggling at them their entire lives, and show them that there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I'm so proud of everyone who's been involved with this. I can't begin to express my love for these dozens of people I've never even met (but hope to one day). We would be nowhere without the organizing skills of activist extraordinaire David Jay — this feels like a professional campaign, due to his leadership.

Anyway I'm rambling I'm rambling, I'm so goddamn excited. If you want more, read this blog entry from DJ or stop by AVEN. It's all happening there! :)
