June 17, 2004 // 12:03 p.m. Things I want today. I want... - To go home. Duh. Obviously. - Not to have two papers left to write. - Or, alternatively, the motivation to write said two papers. - Or, if nothing else, to stop calculating how relatively painless (to the GPA) it would be to not write said two papers, get two F's, and still have above a 3.5 cumulative. - To have a stronger sense of guilt. - A domain name! How do you feel about whicheither? - Better graphic design skills so any discerning websurfer might be able to tolerate looking at my domain. - A DVD player with a screen capture feature. I don't know what exactly I'd do with it, but this site has me contemplating the many possibilities. - To go to Amsterdam, except sort of, strangely, not. I feel obligated to go. Obviously it will be marvellous. Again, the problems with motivation. - To see several movies, such as Eternal Sunshine, and... lost my momentum there; was going to complain about the Netherlands not releasing the movies I want to see until months after their US release, but then when I checked out the movies currently playing in the US, I realize I'm not missing much after all. - To see The Aviator, due in November, which stars Leo DiCaprio and might be craptastic, but Scorsese never sucks and it's about Howard Hughes and oh yeah, Cate Blanchett is playing Kate Hepburn. Just found that out today and I am fascinated by such intriguing casting. (No, I'm not intrigued by such intriguing casting.) - To write not so suckily/weirdly. - To rent about a gazillion movies, tops being Gary Oldman's entire filmography, Diane Keaton's entire filmography, completing Hepburn's and Emma Thompson's filmographies, The Crying Game, The Contender, the original Manchurian Candidate and truly hundreds of others; recently to my shock and horror I discovered I've only seen 500 movies in my life, that can't be right. I've been dying without a TV, VCR and/or rental club membership lately. - To finish Sophie's Choice (the book; as I said I can rent nothing) so I can go ahead and bawl my eyes out over the 'choice' scene and stop having to hear about the author's goddamned never-ending hard-on. - To see Simon and Garfunkel on tour. Yeah, they're in the States when I'm in Europe. They're in Europe when I'm back in the States. I would pay almost any price to see them, but I can't cross the Atlantic again for them, dammit. Do you think they'll ever do it again? - To see Ben Folds, Guster and Rufus Wainwright (my god, has there ever been a better lineup in the history of public displays of musical ability?) except no, they come to Cleveland mere days before I do. - A cell phone with a built-in digital camera. I thought they were frivolous as hell until I discovered moblogging. I would never use the cell phone half of the device, but having a camera in the phone makes taking sneaky pictures far easier. For example, I can't figure out how I'm going to get a picture of Alan Rickman as Snape-looking man with my camera, it will be too obvious and stalker-like, but with a cell phone it'd just look like I was fiddling with my phone. Dammit, I needs one. - Macaroni and cheese, freaking dill pickles, Subway, Taco Bell, real pizza, Gardenburgers, my mom's cabbage rolls, &c &c &c I am dying here on ramen every night. - To write a Harry Potter fan fiction story, involving Remus/Sirius slash and Severus/Lily/James angsty love triangle. Actually, I want very much not to write this story, as it is terribly embarrassing, yet I am obsessed. I love angstyteen, I love the Marauders' generation, I need new HP goodness... I may not be able to stop myself. - To catch up on my The West Wing reruns. Even if season 5 is as bad as y'all say and as bad as the first half certainly was, I can still spot the CJ/Toby lusting in the midst of the storylines from hell. - New hemp sandals! Flip flops! I am dying in socks and tennis shoes! My feet were meant to be free! (Please restrain me from buying these little cuties with my Gap credit card as soon as I hit the States. Especially flog me before I buy them at Heathrow.) - &c. And in only slightly tangential news, I am very rapidly falling in love with Mr. Gary Oldman. Dear lord that man is attractive. How could Remus not be in love with him, I ask you? See. |
