Lame, lame, lame.

The more I look at my new layout, the more I really really like it. I may just leave it even when I get home, or find a picture to add that suits it (I'm thinking people walking in snow, something...).

So I really wish I had something to say to put the layout to use. But I've got nothing going on. Truth is, I just want to go home. I'm not really homesick, I'm not really having a bad time here, I'm just bored, and I have no money left, and I'm tired of my classes.

But when all else fails, I suppose I can always do another survey. This one yoinked from Lyssbobiss.

1. A song whose lyrics you thought you knew in the past, but about which you later learned you were incorrect.

I'm sure there are dozens, and funnier ones, but the only one I can think of at the moment is Heart's 'Listen to Your Heart,' in which the real lyrics are 'listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye,' but I always sang 'listen to your heart before it tells you goodbye.'

2. Your least favorite song on one of your favorite albums of all time.

'Yellow Submarine' on the Beatles' Revolver. The album is otherwise perfect, but I'd rather endure certain forms of torture than listen to that song.

3. A song you like by someone you find physically unattractive or otherwise repellent.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I still like Avril's 'Complicated.' And, even more embarrassing, I sort of like Hillary Duff's song. I blame it on being music-starved in the Netherlands.

4. Your favorite song with the name of a city in the title or text.

Melissa Ferrick's new song 'Beijing' is very good. Also Dar Williams' 'Iowa,' if only because I enjoy typing 'Iowaaa, oh oh, Iowa, oh oh oh oh ohoh, i-i-i, Iowa.'

5. A song you've listened to repeatedly when you were depressed at some point in your life.

To keep myself depressed? 'Evaporated' by the Ben Folds Five. No doubt about that. Also, 'If You're Gone' by Matchbox Twenty, but I didn't listen to it repeatedly on purpose, it just seemed to haunt me at specific moments of depression. Eh. High school.

6. Ever buy an entire album just for one song and wind up disliking everything but that song? Gimme that song.

Yeah, but mostly out of the $1 bin — I'll buy almost anything for $1. Like Deep Blue Something, only good for 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and Jann Arden, only good for 'Insensitive' (and barely even for that, really).

7. Your favorite song that has expletives in it that's not by Liz Phair.

I really would have picked a Liz Phair song without that stipulation. Hmph. Otherwise, 'Rockin' the Suburbs' by Ben Folds is hilarious and so fun to sing: 'It makes me real pissed off and it makes me wanna say fuuuuuuuuuuuck!'

8. A song that sounds as if it's by someone British but isn't.

Hmm, I don't know. Truthfully, a lot of British singers I make the mistake of thinking they're American.

9. A song you like (possibly from your past) that took you forever to finally locate a copy of.

Three that drove me nuts: 'Underground' by the BF Five, 'How Was I To Know' by Nil Lara and 'I Believe' by Tim Booth and Angelo Badalamenti.

10. A song that reminds you of spring but doesn't mention spring at all.

'After All' by Dar Williams. A lot of Dar's songs, actually. She just has that relaxed, warm sound going on.

11. A song that sounds to you like being happy feels.

The upbeat sections of Jason Mraz's 'Tonight, Not Again.'

12. Your favorite song from a non-soundtrack compilation album.

Hmm, I don't think I've ever bought a non-soundtrack compilation album. My mom has a few from the 60's. I don't know, 'Wooly Bully' by Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs.

13. A song from your past that would be considered politically incorrect now (and possibly was then).

'Walk Like an Egyptian' would I suppose be the obvious one. Also half the songs from the classic rock era (which I was raised on) are offensive to women, but I still like 'em.

14. A song sung by an overweight person.

I loved Blues Traveler back in the day! 'Look Around.'

15.A song you actually like by an artist you otherwise hate.

You totally asked this already. And I gave you two answers then, what do you want from me? Shakira, before she hit the States and we listened to her in Spanish class, had a great song in 'Estoy Aquí.'

16. A song by a band (whose members actually play instruments) that features three or more female members.

I can't think of any such band other than the Four Non Blondes and I hate hate HATE that song. It's really sad that I can't think of any others. I don't know, how many girls were in Veruca Salt?

17. One of the earliest songs that you can remember listening to.

Collectively I think of the Moody Blues' 'Your Wildest Dreams,' Don McLean's 'American Pie' and Bad Company's 'Silver Blue and Gold' as the songs of my childhood.

18. A song you've been mocked by friends for liking.

'Complicated,' for one... I don't know, usually I think they laugh at me behind my back.

19. A really good cover version you think no one else has heard.

Matchbox Twenty's cover of Fleetwood Mac's 'Never Going Back Again.' They completely reimagined the song, and drastically improved it, which is saying quite a lot.

20. A song that has helped cheer you up (or empowered you somehow) after a breakup or otherwise difficult situation.

Since you mention breakup, though I remember guiltily not needing much cheering up: I remember laying on the floor listening to OLP with Josh and Lani soon after my breakup with Shawn, and during 'Not Enough' Josh tapped me on the arm and emphasized the lyrics 'it's not your fault.' I love that boy.

21. What was the last song you downloaded?

I haven't downloaded anything in maybe SIX MONTHS! I'm dying here with no new music!
