Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Just returned from a fun night out with my homegirl. An otherwise lovely night marred only by the fact that I nearly killed myself on the unplowed streets and highways of CF. My car doesn't do well in winter; four inches of fresh snow do nothing to help. I ran a red light rather than braking and dying.

I suppose I have nothing of substance to say on the matter, but Mona Lisa Smile is wonderful. Without being overly sentimental, without descending into a feminist diatribe. And the musical selections were appropriately subversive. And I love Juliet Stevenson. And Maggie Gyllenhaal. Anyway. It's more than worth watching.

So is, by the way, Return of the King, though I doubt you needed my endorsement to pay upwards of $8.00 to see that one. The end and the pandering flashbacks were unnecessary low points, but it is otherwise an astonishing film. Yes, aside from that complaint, it is probably my favorite in the trilogy. I only cried once, believe it or not. I am embarrassed to reveal when. :) And, ohh, bitchslap me until I finally finish the book.

So I've done nothing all week. I've knitted two more stripes of my Ravenclaw scarf, been to the bank and the post office. That's about it. Well there's a lot more to be done. Break's over.

My brother is hosting a sleepover, so I stand little chance of sleeping tonight. I'm going to read Voltaire for a while, and then drown them out with my tapes of The West Wing. Sorry for the non-update: I try to almost never do that.

See past the paint; let us open our minds to a different idea.
