February 19, 2002 // 10:55 p.m. The little girl lives on oh my god... i am so sad. but the person who originally wrote this survey is worse, right? ...right? :) 1.What is your name? lauren marie 2.How old are you? 19 3.Where do you live? (country or state) an internationally spread survey, you'll soon see why and wish you hadn't... hehe.. 4.What do you so for a living? professional slacker. OK, that's enough boring ones! 5.Favourite music? (these are still boring and totally played out) but, tonight i am playing ravel's 15-minute bolero over and over until i want to shoot myself in the head. or - oh! - maybe cast myself into an active volcano! 6.Favourite movies? tonight i wish i hadn't sold all my torvill and dean tapes... 7.Favourite actor/actress? colin firth/alan rickman... allison janney 8.Who are your heroes? Apart from T&D? hehe.. mom, kreiner, monro, and i don't know her well enough yet but i suspect someday dhs joins that list... 9.Favourite sports? i don't do sports, but i'm suddenly all about the olympics. and i'm caught in 1984 at the moment... 10.Any other hobbies besides skating? skating is no longer a hobby, really. do i have any hobbies left? hmm.. Right, now for some questions of the T&D variety! me: yaaaaaaay! you: what the f***?? 11.How long have you been a T&D fan? since the first time i saw them in the 1994 olympics, when they were, by the way, ROBBED! from there i began a very literal obsession with their greatnesses that faded as they did... and they will never skate together again! sniffle. 12.Have you seen them skate live, if so where? stars on ice in 8th grade. still one of the best nights of my life, the feeling of being in the same place at the same time with these two people who i worshipped. (i was silly, i still am...) they are so amazing... 13.Have you met them? i used to have all these silly fantasies about meeting them, and i was really quite positive that i would someday. and become like their personal assistant or something. silly silly... 14.Favourite routine is too hard, so how about if you had to show someone who had never seen them skate how good the were, what three routines would you use and why? three is still hard, but i can do this. bolero of course, because that is what they are known for, it's what won them olympic gold, it's what brought them like 18gazillion perfect 6.0s. no brainer. the sport will never come close to that kind of thing again. second, my favorite program of all, encounter. they tell the story of an entire relationship in seven minutes, and it is heartbreaking and so real. you feel the pain in their faces, you are drawn into the story, which really becomes whatever you read into it. i think it is chris dean's best choreography. and third, hat trick, so you can see the humorous side and how the two play off each other so well. they're just bloody brilliant... 15.If you could have gone to see any skating competition T&D have competed in which would it be and why? sarajevo 1984 without a doubt. i can't even imagine how it would feel to see them there, in the moment. totally incredible. 16.What are your favourite T&D costumes? i really do love the bolero costumes, they're so striking and perfect for the music. i like jayne's dress in encounter. i like take five. paso doble 1984. 17.What is your favourite company piece that has involved T&D or their choreography? the red hat from stars on ice. it's an adaptation of hat trick for the entire cast and it was just the most hilarious, well-choreographed thing i've ever seen. plus i got to see it live and in person :) 18.How many different performances of Bolero do you have? i used to have so many.. but i sold them all! the shame, the shame... 19.What is your favourite T&D video? path to perfection, it had a lot of their earlier stuff which is so interesting. and the artistry of torvill and dean, all my favorites as pros. 20.What music would you have T&D skate to and why? i hear a lot that i think would be great to skate to, and at the height of my obsession i used to pick out music just for them and try to choreograph it in my mind. but i don't remember any now.. 21.Who are your favourite skaters in the other disciplines? pairs, barbara underhill and paul martini no contest! sale and pelletier of course! ;) men, scott hamilon, kurt browning. women, josee choinard, katarina witt, rosalyn sumners... 22.What other ice dancers do you admire and why? none even come close of course, but i love bourne and kraatz and i'm really pissed that they missed a medal again tonight. anassina and peizerat caught my admiration this year, but really only because they were the only team i felt worthy of winning. i also always loved klimova and ponomarenko. 23.Do you plan to see T&DAs upcoming British Tour? this is an old survey. sniffle. no more t&d. 24.What three words best describe T&D to you? ugh! innovative, evocative, breathtaking... 25.Do you have a favourite T&D quote? i used to live for the chapters in their autobio where they each wrote about each other and contemplated the idea of romantic involvement off the ice. 'don't bet against it, though!' i lived by that. how my heart broke the day i realized they'd married others... silly little girl. 26.What's your most watched T&D performance? i don't even know how to figure that out... i used to get up in the morning at 4am and watch path to perfection over and over again. i've seen them all so many times. but bolero is on every tape, so that one probably. 27.Given one question, what would you ask T&D? will you come back and never leave me again?? hehe... 28.If T&D weren't skaters what other careers could you suggest for them? chris would still be a police officer, chasing naked drunk men through the streets of nottingham. jayne still her crappy little office job.. i just can't see them doing anything else but skating, so i can only answer in things i know they have done... 29.What T&D dances arenAt you too fond of? hmmm... god, that's impossible. i don't really like the dances chris choreographed for the duchesnays, with all the african drum beats. as for jayne and chris? too impossible. the carmina burana dragged on forever though... 30.Was this survey OK? yeah, but it makes me feel retarded. :) 31. Are there any numbers that you disliked initially but is now one of your favorites? yes, i didn't like the barnum number at first because the music annoyed me but, damn, they brought the circus to ice. perfectly. 32. Conversely, are there any routines you used to love but didn't stand the test of time for you? no way. there, the whole truth, i am completely insane... ;) Though I know I'll never lose affection of people and things that went
before, I know I'll often stop and think about them - In my life, I love you
more. |
